Q&A with Poison Oak

Poison Oak filled out a Q&A for us!

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF YOUR BANDMATES WHEN YOU MET?

Haha, I met Ray and Russell around 6 or so years ago. So… I can’t really remember exactly… however, I know for Russ, I thought he was really tall and could drink a lot of whiskey at the time.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY PLAYING SHOWS?

Playing Valley Fiesta in Brisbane, and the venue was so packed that the stage felt like it was bouncing when we were playing on it.

WHAT ARTIST WOULD BE YOUR DREAM COLLABORATION?

Paul Kelly… Tom Waits, mainly just for the hangs, oh and The Cure.

WHAT SONG ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF AND WHY?

At the moment, for the ones that we have released and recorded, it would have to be “Sarah,” or “Some People Tell Lies.” More for the fact of all the layers that we manage to make work for “Sarah”.

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO GAS STATION ORDER?

Gatorade/Powerade always, so hot here in the North Queensland, you need it.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR NON-MUSICAL INFLUENCES?

Work, education, the people around me, my friends, crime podcasts, lots of crime podcasts…

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF?

Take it easy, stop caring, lower your expectations, get some different hobbies.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE YEAR?

We just released our EP “1996,” and we are about to go into the studio again in the next week or so, to start working on some new tracks
