Q&A with Perseide

Julien (vocals/guitar) and Guillame (bass) of the rock band Perseide answered some quick questions for us!

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF YOUR BANDMATES WHEN YOU MET?

Julien: All the members of the band were together in school… So we all met each other a long time before the band’s formation! We grew up together in the same hometown, and the story of the band started when we were in high school, almost 20 years ago so… I always remember playing music with my mates in the band!!!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY PLAYING SHOWS?

We played in our hometown for a festival with a lot of local bands… At the end of our show, the atmosphere was so crazy that every member of the other bands went on stage to party and dance with us!!! That’s what we like to do with the band: to share beautiful moments of life and spend fun time to forget everything, even during the period of a concert.

WHAT ARTIST WOULD BE YOUR DREAM COLLABORATION?

Without hesitation, we would like to share the stage with the bands that had influenced us the most: Enter Shikari, The Used, In Flames…

WHAT SONG ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF AND WHY?

Our latest single, ‘Set Me Free’, has a deeply strong meaning for us. It deals with the craving for material possessions that one can encounter. Now that mankind is getting infected, we can figure out that possessions are not the most important thing on earth. You can die old and alone with all your riches around you, or set yourself free from possessions and live a beautiful life with the ones you love.

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO GAS STATION ORDER?

Guillaume: : Gasoline, cigarettes, beer and a porn magazine!

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR NON-MUSICAL INFLUENCES?

As a medical doctor in anesthesia and critical care, the things I’ve seen in the hospital make me remember that when you’re in good health, you have to love your life and seize the day! That’s a concept we like to inject in our lyrics and chords: enjoying the little things that are enjoyable, listening to music, losing yourself in a rock show and live it up!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF?

Julien: I would tell myself not being too rushed, wait for the right time to come. We have often been deceived not to success as a rock band when we were younger. Now that we’ve grown and that we are happy in our personal lives, we don’t wait for the success to come. We just want to play the music that we love and share it with the people that want it too.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE YEAR?

There’s a lot of new stuff coming up! We just recorded new songs, and if the situation remains stable, our next tour will take place during 2022! Until this, 2021 will be marked with the release of new music videos and new songs. We hope that it will allow us to book some great gigs with bands we love and keep the inspiration to write new songs and make the experience even greater!
