Q&A with Next Stop Olympus

Conor and Matt from metal band Next Stop Olympus filled out a quick Q&A for us!

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF YOUR BANDMATES WHEN YOU MET?

Conor: I didn’t really have any, I knew Matt before the band and he knew the guys so that was about it really.

Matt: Same again really I didn’t have one, I met most of the guys through people and Skips we found off a musician site but everyone got along pretty fast.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY PLAYING SHOWS?

Conor: My favourite memory from shows is seeing people who don’t think they’d enjoy what we do start getting into what we do and then by the end on the set they’re head banging with the best of them.

Matt: My favourite memory from a show would be a show we played on my birthday and I ended up having someone pouring whiskey in my mouth while I was playing on one knee.

WHAT ARTIST WOULD BE YOUR DREAM COLLABORATION?

Matt: I’d really like to do a song with either Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria or Dani Winter-Bates from Bury tomorrow because they’re my favourite vocalists.

Conor: Either Joel Birch from The Amity Affliction or Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy because they’d both add a lot to anything they’re in.

WHAT SONG ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF AND WHY?

Conor: “Don’t Let Go” because it’s the most emotional lyrically and I think it comes across in the music like that as well.

Matt: I’d probably say “Don’t Let Go” too because that whole song came from a riff idea I had and just to watch how it evolved into the song it did from that made me proud of us as a band.

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO GAS STATION ORDER?

Conor: Well petrol I’d guess if we’re in a fuel station and maybe a meal deal.

Matt: Yeah the same, fuel if I’m at a fuel station and probably a Monster.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR NON-MUSICAL INFLUENCES?

We’ll always give credit to Danny Devito for just being perfect and Sean Bean for always taking one for the team.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF?

Matt: Probably just to practice more, I wished I’d tried harder at music when I was younger.

Conor: Probably just to keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll have a lot of fun over the years.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE YEAR?

Well, we’ve just released our new EP “Heart, Mind & Hell” on the 9th April so just to try get that out there as much as possible and play as many shows as we can now that Covid restrictions are easing.
