Italy-based singer-songwriter Evie filled out a little Q&A for us here at Scrunchie!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY PLAYING SHOWS?
The feeling I get when I’m on stage and see that there are people who came just to listen to me and my music is definitely one of my favourite things about playing shows, it gives me such a boost of energy and happiness. Some of my favourite memories were also made right after getting off stage, when people come up to me to tell me they liked the performance and to congratulate me, that makes every show worth the anxiety that precedes it!
WHAT ARTIST WOULD BE YOUR DREAM COLLABORATION?
There are so many artists I love and look up to, so it’s really hard to pick just one that I would like to collab with. One of my biggest dreams is collaborating with Taylor Swift, she’s a huge inspiration and her lyrics have always held a special place in my heart. I would also really love to collaborate with Maisie Peters, I’m a very big fan of hers and she’s a super talented lyricist and singer.
WHAT SONG ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF AND WHY?
I’m very proud of my latest release OMG, I spent so much time working on it and making sure that it would turn out exactly how I pictured it. It required much work, music-wise, both from me and the producers and it’s also the first song I get to release as a signed artist, which is definitely a dream come true to me.
WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO GAS STATION ORDER?
My go-to gas station order would have to be crisps. I’ve never really been on a road-trip that lasted for more than 7-8 hours so you don’t really need to stop and get something to munch on, but whenever I do it’s always Pringles and my go-to flavour is salt and vinegar.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR NON-MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
Usually, I am inspired by the people I am surrounded by, my family and friends, for instance. I would definitely say the person that I’m most influenced by is my grandmother, she’s my rock, no matter what comes her way, she always holds her head up high and tries her best not to let age to stop her. She’s such a big inspiration for me in everything she does, I’ve learnt a lot from her and she’s always been very supportive of me.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF?
Very hard to tell since I’m very self-critical and tend to overthink pretty much everything I do. I would probably just tell myself not to worry as much as I did about things that don’t need that much of attention. Plus, I would advise my younger self to try and be more confident, I remember being extremely self-conscious in the past, I still wouldn’t say I’m totally confident but I’m working on it so I would definitely ask younger Evie to try and speed up the process ☺
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE YEAR?
I’m working on new music so I’m planning on releasing at least three more singles, these are definitely part of the plans. I really can’t wait to put new music out, that makes me kind of nervous because I’ve been working so hard on it. I would also love to be able to play live shows once we are allowed to do so, perhaps being able to play as an opening act, I haven’t stepped onstage in a while and I really miss that. Besides, I’m still in university so getting my degree is also a very important plan for me.
