Q&A with Dead Defined

Ontario-based project Dead Defined filled out a quick Q&A for us!

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF YOUR BANDMATES WHEN YOU MET?

Well, seeing as Dead Defined is more of a solo project I have many different types of friends play during my live shows. It’s always a mix match of who’s available to wanna rock out for a night! I keep my opinions to myself haha!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY PLAYING SHOWS?

The fans of course! Getting off stage and learning about them and where they travelled from to watch is always a great moral booster after a show. I love to grab a beer and chit chat about music and life in general.

WHAT ARTIST WOULD BE YOUR DREAM COLLABORATION?

I’ve always been a fan of Richard Patrick’s (Filter) style and creation. I think I’d like to try a collab with him. I’ve been a lifetime fan from his transition from NIN (Nine Inch Nails) to Filter and his music really resonates with me.

WHAT SONG ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF AND WHY?

I’d have to say my song ‘Lifeline’. The message behind it is a very strong one and it’s portrayed in the Music Video which is up for an award for 2021 Music Video of the Year in the OMA’s. (Oshawa Music Awards) in Canada.

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO GAS STATION ORDER?

Can’t pass up on the 2 Monster Energy drinks for $5. That’s a cheap fix! As for food, always have to go with the Beef Jerky and Combos haha.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR NON-MUSICAL INFLUENCES?

As far as non-musical influences I’m really into the art and imagery type of thing when it comes to what I represent as an artist. I love the Mad Max films and the appearance of the characters and overall films. I’m a bit of a petrol-head so fast cars and gritty action always have me hooked.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF?

Keep going. Times get tough especially in this business, but always look back to see how far you’ve come and tell yourself to not give up. Always strive forward no matter what it is you’re wanting to pursue in life.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE YEAR?

Since Covid still has every musician in limbo here in Ontario, Canada we’re kind of sitting ducks at the moment as far as live performance. I’m currently trying to release a new single every 3-4 months with a coinciding music video for online content purposes. If it weren’t for the internet, musicians would be dead in the water to be honest. At least we can still promote and keep in touch with the fanbase until things get figured out.
