Q&A with King Fabbs

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF YOUR BANDMATES WHEN YOU MET?

Well I’m a solo artist and the only other person I work with is my good friend and producer Brennan Kennedy! Brennan played drums on my EP and he also plays drums with me live. I write all the music myself and then I get together with Brennan and we get everything recorded!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY PLAYING SHOWS?

I have not played a lot of shows yet but my favorite memory came from my first show that I played. A great amount of my audience was dressed up in cow onesies, and they were having a blast! It was really easy to perform and have fun with them! I have pictures if anyone wants to see haha.

WHAT ARTIST WOULD BE YOUR DREAM COLLABORATION?

My goodness there are so many artists that I want to collaborate with, it’s so hard to pick just one. My dream Collab right now would definitely be with All Time Low. I am so inspired by All Time Low, they are easily one of my favorite bands and I feel like collaborating with them would be so much fun and I would learn so much from them too!

WHAT SONG ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF AND WHY?

I’m so proud of No Stopping Tonight. When I first wrote the song, I honestly wasn’t sure if it was going to be a good fit on the EP. I felt like maybe I should have either done something different with the song or maybe I should just release it on a future date. I guess just had some mixed feelings about it. But after it was recorded and mixed, I really started to feel it. It’s arguably my best song right now! It’s had such an incredible response so far.

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO GAS STATION ORDER?

I can honestly say I’ve never been asked this question before haha. I don’t have a go-to order for when I’m at a gas station but when I am at a gas station, most times I am leaving with some sort of beverage like a root beer, or an iced tea.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR NON-MUSICAL INFLUENCES?

So much of my influences comes from music and music artists but aside from that I would say I get influences from certain individuals such as Jarome Iginla, Corey Taylor, I also like lots of different tattoo artists, and I love Disney!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF?

I would tell myself to be way more confident with who I am. I had a lot of insecurities when I was growing up, I felt like I never truly fit in anywhere, I got picked on for the kind of music I listened too and for some general interests that I had. I wish I was able to just completely own it and not care what people thought of me at all. There’s no sense in holding back on what you love, it just defeats your happiness. If people don’t like who I am or what I do, that’s their problem. Sometimes people don’t want to see you happy, and they just aren’t worth living for.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE YEAR?

Right now I am planning to release a single within the next few months and of course I want new music to be coming out on a regular basis so I am always working at that, and I am in the planning stages of making my first music video!
