Dulliken, Switzerland based melodic death metal band Ophelia’s Eye filled out a quick Q&A for us!
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF YOUR BANDMATES WHEN YOU MET?
We all just fit together very well from the first time.
Remo (lead guitar) and Marco (drums) know each other since school and already played in a band together there. In the beginning of 2019, our singer (Michel) and in August 2019 Corinne (rhythm guitar) joined and it instantly clicked.
At this time we played with our former bass player but due to different goals we split up with our bassist just two weeks before our first concert in February 2020 and played without a bass player until we’ve found Sandro who joined in August 2020 and was really a lucky strike.
And now for all of us, Ophelia’s Eye is like a second family.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY PLAYING SHOWS?
Our best show was definitely just lately on September 4th, 2021, at Met-Bar.
One point for sure was that we were just eager to get back on stage with live audience after nearly 11 months of break.
Also, Met-Bar was a goal for us to play at, since it is a tiny but really nice location: the organization works well, the catering is amazing, and the light and sound engineers do an amazing job.
But most importantly it was unbelievable what audience we had: It sold nearly 3 times better than other concerts before and the crowd was just amazing – they’ve sung along with us, cheered with us and banged their head really hard – we just loved it and at this time again a big thank you to everyone at Met-Bar!
WHAT ARTIST WOULD BE YOUR DREAM COLLABORATION?
All of us have their own idols and absolute favorite bands which is why this differs from person to person but when we would have to chose as a band we would go for Parkway Drive.
WHAT SONG ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF AND WHY?
Our latest song “Hopeless World”. It features so many different elements from dreamy, clean parts to a breakdown and you can really sink into it.
WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO GAS STATION ORDER?
Nothing special to be honest: We normally just pick up gas and maybe something non-alcoholic drink for the road or the rehearsal.
Since we decided that every rehearsal someone else cooks in turns for all of us, we don’t order anything anymore. It was a decision we’ve made to save money originally – instead of spending the money at a gas station or a courier, we transfer the amount we would have spent for let’s say a pizza or something to our band account.
But we definitely will stick to it since it’s great to eat something different ever week and not only Pizza or other typical dishes you can order.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR NON-MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
Mostly the things we experience in life especially for the topics Michel sings about.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF?
This again is different for everyone of us but somehow, we don’t really have that special advice since we are all quite happy about things in our lives turned out.
We all grew up with families that helped pursuing dreams and opportunities and we all just think that it is crucial to find the thing that really makes you happy for a long time and not doing things because it is normal to do them.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE YEAR?
After releasing our EP we will release another Single combined with a story video on October 8th.
Furthermore, we are going back to the studio in the end of October and beginning in November to record our full-length album.
A tour is also in planning, but more to that will be communicated as soon as possible.
